"Nostalgia for an era is something that can enter your heart without any warning. We go about our lives and then one day boom!

JayNight arrived in my listening box with little warning; soon images from the United States mid-1980's danced across my mind's eye. Weekends at the arcade, the Pepsi Coke Challange. BMX bikes, the movies Karata Kid, Stand By Me, Goonies and plenty of other classics. The mid-1980's were unofficially considered one of the greatest times to be a kid in the good old U.S.A.

Hundreds of years from now when historians want to understand what it felt like be a young person in the yesteryear of the 1980's U.S.A they will listen to the album Speed of Light by JayNight. Music provides an emotional connection often that nothing else does. Speed of Light not only captures the aesthetics of the 1980's but a reverence and longing created some thirty years later by someone who's very blood carries the cellular memory required to channel forth the spirit!

Released at the end of the summer in 2018 Speed of Light somehow captures all the summers of the mid-1980's. I dare you to listen to this album in its entirety. Whether you grew up in the 1980's or not, the music transports one to a place in time. Regardless of your understanding of the 1980's this album is what it felt like in your core and it was rad.

You could spend weeks or better yet months researching the mid-1980's, watching films, reading magazines, studying culture or just put on this album. In roughly 40 minutes Speed of Light takes you down the path of the youth in mid-1980's America. A time of heroes and having fun. The underdog usually won and when they didn't, they had a damn good time anyway.

I must admit I even dropped a tear listening to the album remembering my long lost best friend from back in those days. Not a tear of sadness, just sweet memories of a beautiful fun packed time in history. The songs are triumphant, honest, and did I say fun. Yes, I did at one point find myself dancing around the room imaging I was Evel Knievel jumping my dirt bike off deadman's cliff. And yes I made the jump with everyone cheering down below, totally rad!

Thank you, Speed of Light for taking me back in time. Built-in 2018 the ride is an original batch of songs capable of transporting anyone, as long as you jump on board!"
